Montgomery Elementary’s School Counseling Program Components
Classroom Counseling Curriculum
Whole group lessons that are implemented for 30-40 minutes 1-2x per month. Montgomery Elementary follows a four-day cycle rotation, which Mrs. Condit follows to implement classroom lessons. Grades K, 1st and 5th receive lessons during the first rotation and grades 2nd, 3rd and 4th receive lessons throughout the second cycle rotation. Lessons begin again after the third cycle rotation, estimating at 1-2 lessons per month

Individual Student Planning
Academic/achievement screenings, educational support team meetings, development of individual behavioral/academic interventions for student success, reward system programming, grade level placements, etc.
Individual Counseling
Counselor works with students in a one-on-one setting to enhance individual growth and achievement
Group Counseling
Counselor works with children in a small group setting (4-6 students) that focuses on various developmental topics that promote academic, career and personal/social growth
Responsive/Crisis Services
A school counselor is trained to respond to a variety of crisis situations that may arise in a school setting
Programming
Develops school-wide programs that are offered to students, such as: positive behavior support programs, buddy/mentoring programs, rewards based programs, Tier 1, 2 and 3 intervention programs, etc.
Student Referrals
The counselor has many avenues in place for students to connect with the counselor and/or make self-referrals. The counselor also accepts referrals from school personnel and parents for individual/group counseling sessions. The Counselors meets with students to address academic, career, personal or social needs on a short term basis. The counselor will make recommendations for further support if is deemed appropriate and/or necessary
